What is a Tlalchichi?
The ancient inhabitants of Colima created clay dog figures that accompanied people on their journey to the afterlife.
The term "Tlalchichi" comes from the Nahuatl "tlalli" (earth) and "chichi" (dog), meaning "earth dog". It represents the iconic ceramic figures created by the ancient cultures of western Mexico.
These pieces were not mere decorations: they were placed in tombs to guide the souls of the deceased through Mictlán. Today, our replicas keep alive that connection to Colima's history and spirituality.
